SfSBM @ NECSS 2016

SfSBM @ NECSS 2016

In April, SfSBM made its debut at the Northeast Conference on Science and Skepticism (NECSS) in New York City. We're happy to announce we've been invited back for another day of presentations on science-based medicine.

Last year, Drs. Crislip, Gorski, Novella, Hall and I gave talks on

Science-Based Medicine,

Chiropractic: Not all it's cracked up to be,

Integrative Medicine: Integrating cow pie with apple pie,

How Acupuncture "Works," and

Political Pseudoscience

There was a panel on the placebo effect, followed by Dr. Crislip stumping the rest of us with a round of Science-Based Medicine Jeopardy.

And that was only one day of the NECSS weekend. Bill Nye, "the Science Guy," was the keynote speaker. There was a special broadcast of Skeptics Guide to the Universe. Panels and talks covered, among other subjects, sex, skepticism, string theory, STEM, statistics (as in "lying with") and Sherlock Holmes. Plus, leeches and magic!

All this, and nightly Drinking Skeptically too.

In 2016, NECSS will be May 12-15, at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. The Hilton NY Fashion District, a block from the conference venue, will offer special rates to conference attendees. Admission will be discounted for SfSBM members.

Already confirmed are the Skeptics' Guide to the Universe Rogues, who will present their "Skeptical Extravaganza" as well as the renowned Richard Wiseman and a special exhibition of his work "Experimental."

We'll have more about SfSBM's program and NECSS 2016 coming up in the next few months. Mark your calendars and stay tuned.
